Evaluation- Feedback
I showed some poeple in my college my magazine pages that fit some of the demographics and psychographics without telling them. I asked 4 different people, from both sexes, black and white what they thought about the magazine and what they would do to improve it. I have kept my responders anonymous so they would speak more freely about their opinions and know they wouldn't be posted on the internet for it. I asked them to write down their responses and I have typed them up:
"I love the way it's not overcrowded and theres space so you can process what the magazine is telling you without the risk of being boring. I also like the colours, the double page photo is insane and it looks so real. I would probably add one or two more pages onto the contents page as one or two sections seem more bare compare to the others. I thought it was a proffessional magazine on the front cover especially."
"Love the fact theres fully clothed girls in the magazine, so used to seeing half naked women and it gets boring. I like the fact different models are used so it keeps it fresh and I love the styling of what looks like smoke going up the contents page. I'd probably have another male model but I can't really fault it"
"The colours are wicked all the way through the pages, it really looks like an R&B magazine but looks newer and fresher than most, I think it's because it has a different take on the genre but I love it, wish real R&B magazines did more styles like this."
"I actually read the front cover because there wasn't too much and was simple, after that I wanted to find the article about R&B saving her life as it really grabbed me, I then went to the contents page where I was planning on just finding that article but I was drew in with the images and the personal editors note, getting on to the article I was interested in originally I stared at the image for a while as it looked so cool with bits of red coming through. For once I actually understood the article too as it wasn't all posh. If i had to fault it, I'd have more of the article as I loved the story and wanted more."
I was overwhelmed with the feedback I got as this was from my target audience and is the response I'd want from a larger scale if my magazine was published. I also really appreciated the critism and reflecting back on it now I have to agree with them, one or two more pages could be added to my contents and my article could have an extra paragraph or so longer. Although I wouldn't add another male model to my exsisting pages, if I were to do a full magazine I would feature more male models.

Coventions of existing Mastheads for R&B
As I can see from typing in R&B magazines on the internet, there is a great range of mastheads. This goes from the genre itself "R&B" to "Vibe" and "XXL". From these, I can gather that the typical conventions are related to the music itself, the feeling it gives and how big the magazine is. Looking into it, I can see they are thought about carefully to capture readers and enable to sell with a word that readers will be interested in or made to make the readers get an instant good vibe from the magazine. With this, we will bare in mind mastheads that would attract us but makes people want to read the magazine and not just a random name. If we can we will relate it to R&B but I don't think it is essential.
